it seems that the power steering isn't working but my mechanic says its fine,
If you think it's not working, it's not working. Everyone knows what a car should feel like when driving it. Sounds like you need a new mechanic.
if you know of any similar issues, please let me know how to repair this or what to expect
Stiff Steering it a symptom of a bad FEM- https://forums.fordthunderbirdforum...ectronic-module-fem-2002-2005.5560/post-35306

A qualified mechanic can verify if this is your problem.

many problems come and go . Driver's window wouldn't go up for 4 days, suddenly it closed. Wind shield wipers operate in pulse mode or not at all. Every day is an adventure.

Windshield wipers work whenever they feel like it. Can start the car, no wipers, no fluid jets -- then after driving for five minutes, both suddenly start working. Worked with the shop on this for a while, they were stumped, ruled out anything to do with the motor. Their best guess was an electrical problem with the wiper switch, they recommended disassembling and replacing the part of the steering column the wiper switch is attached to (forget what they called it).

Does anyone have advice/experience with either of these problems?

Left window does not go up or down with door opening and wiper control is two notches off. Have reprogramed with left window and checked all computer connections. Will work fine for a day or so and the wipers cycle when engine starts and window does not go down to open or close the door.

My turn signal has become intermittent and I cannot seem to find much if any information on the location and procedure to replace the flasher relay. The best I could find is that it is under the right side kick panel and a possible removal of the glove box may be required. Any hints on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Biddle,

Question… If the FEM is failing, would there not be other failed components/ systems accompanied by that? In my research the common answer has been a failing turn flasher but In reading the thread you referenced for me that also seems a viable answer. In thinking, I’ve recently had my overhead dome go out and the bulb is good as well as when I use my headlights during daytime the panel lighting dims significantly. Also, my shift lever position lighting has never worked. That said, perhaps you are correct. Thank you for the next trail to follow.

checking the ABS / Speed sensor module is also recommended when stumped. My mechanic found that it was affecting many things related to speed sensors including speedometer, power steering and throttle control. Had it rebuilt and car runs sooo good.
