The following is new to me, so I thought I would pass it along.
I read some data today that may be of interest to our Canadian members and others. I'll cut and paste below, the important parts from other owners:
"Found the block heater mentioned on those pages in the 1st edition for 03 and page 106 in the 2nd edition of the 03 manual.
-page 128 of the 4th editon of the 02
-page 112 of the 1st edition of the 04
-pages 110/11 of the 2nd edition of the 04
-page 139 in a draft of the first 05 manual
-page 140/141 of the 2nd edition of the 05
All of them say the same thing."

The plug in is "located between the fog lite and the tag holder on the drivers side in the lower opening there is a bracket that holds the plug end. There is a toggle covering over the plug end to protect it."
Looking for it, "If you kneel down in front of the car you will find it in the right side opening below the grill, next to the plate holder. The cap flips open real smooth and shows the connector block."

"taken from our '03 owners guide. (printed in usa). Page 104/105
'Using the engine block heater (if equiped)'
An engine block heater warms the engine coolant which aids in starting and heater/defroster performance. Use of an engine block heater is strongly recommended if you live in a region where temperatures reach -23 deg. C (-10 deg. F) or below. For best results, plug the heater in at least three hours before starting the vehicle. The heater can be plugged in the night before starting the vehicle. ---I found it in our manual index under "E" Engine (Engine block heater"

On the original window stiucker, "the block heater is order code 41H,
standard and only available in AK,MN,ND,SD,MT,WI,and WI, states....other states available via FCSD..whatever that is"

George,

Of the 68,098 2002-2005 Thunderbirds made 4110 of them had the engine block heater. If anyone wants to know if their car has one I can tell them with the year and last five VIN digits.

Five of the engine block heaters went for Thunderbirds in Arizona, however Florida didn't get a single one.

....actually George,...the information in your last paragraph wasn't on the window sticker, but on the Dealer order information for the late, lamented, stillborn, '06's...with my thought that it would reflect information for the other years....

.....Hi Harry...I'm thinking FCSD is a factory order code? (referring back to George's info on cold climate) Speaking of cold climate....as we are in -25C cold climate...I was wondering if you would know wether there was any cold climate testing done on the 'Birds?.....This is winter number 6....on the original battery, with no issues, I cannot fault the cold weather performance of this car at all......Cheers! Martin.

I don't know what FCSD stands for... I was trying to guess. "Ford Customer Service... blank" or ??? When I worked at a Ford assembly plant in the 60s there was a "DSO" for unusual build requests and that stood for "Dealer Special Order"

I would guess yes, there was cold climate testing. I know they have a freeze room but Ill bet they had cold weather testing done on the road too.
