My new BlueBird has been well received at the Hollywood film studio where I work. I'm the film editor on the "Titus" series for Fox. The star of our show, Christopher Titus, is so enamored with my Bird that he and the writers want to include it in an upcoming episode which will air on Fox February 6.
I've had bad experiences with damage to my classic cars on previous film shoots, so rather than let them mess up my BlueBird and "pay for any damage after the filming," I contacted FoMoCo for help. They agreed to furnish our show with a new Bird for the episode. Ford is being very picky about which TV and film projects they will place the new Bird on, so we're lucky to have it on "Titus." Ford doesn't have any blue Thunderbirds available for film shoots, so we chose a yellow one, premium, full accent vin #548. It must have been sitting around in a warehouse because it only has 200 miles on it. I assume this car has the BASF paint used in early production, because there is absolutely NO orange peel, unlike the moderate orange peel in my #5808 with DuPont paint. Maybe this one was specially prepared for publicity use. It's gorgeous!
By the way, there is a rumor that Ford is developing a new TV series based on the new Thunderbird. Maybe something along the lines of the old Route 66 show? We shall see...
