By mistake I put a very small bit of water in the steering wheel oil container. Yes I didn’t have my glasses on 🙂. I immediately took it to the mechanic and he drained the system and yes the spinning sound of the pump is now present.
Do u think the pump is ruined. I mean the steering wheel doesn’t make any sound when I turn. The zzzz sound is continuous and increases when I accelerate. Do u know where I can buy a refurbished pump and how much would it cost. Last thing is the steering wheel of this car as smooth as all American cars or is it more sturdy?

Help 🙂. Sarino

Since we are an all Ford Thunderbird site, you can omit "Ford Thunderbird" from the subject on future posts. I've edited it out.

Before you invest in a new pump I'd investigate some of the additives available....,my 2002 pump would make a weird whining noise about every 5th or 6th start up shortly after purchase. Some conditioner cleared it up.

IIRC it was Lucas Power Steering conditioner; I'm not a big fan of "snake oil" additives but some of the newer formulations are quire good.
