Rebuilt the upper control arms and replaced the springs with heavy duty springs, because i want to add A/C, the control arms and suspension is really tight, looking for suggestions. The control arms were tight before i installed them but thought they would loosen up. I'm thinking about just going to an aftermarket control arm, but cant find them at all, are there aftermarket control arms for a 1962?

Just redid my '61- all new bushings , extra Heavy Duty Shocks (yes, there is such a thing) Radial 14 inch whitewalls, HD Front sway bar and new rear sway bar. Car rides great and handles really good. Added Edelbrock engine upper end kit and Headers, 2.5 inch exhaust pipes. BTW added A/C earlier- it will not add a significant amount of weight so you should not need new springs. See Classic Air for Kit.

When you install the control arms you should always tighten the control arm shaft nuts with the weight of the car on the suspension, otherwise you will damage the bushings and that might be the cause of your tight suspension.

Isn’t that tough to do with all the pressure the spring puts on the control arm?
