Good evening all,

I’m looking at a 1962 thunderbird hardtop. Unknown mileage. Body is in good shape, engine starts but starts to overheat, but I believe it’s just a radiator clog as the intake pipe is hot but the outlet pipe on bottom is cold. I don’t think it’s getting through the radiator. Interior is in good of shape and looks well kept for the age.

I know this is a stupid question, but he guy wants $7500 for it and it seems like a steal, what are your opinions on the worth of these cars? I have no idea about thunderbirds. Attached some pics. I’m all in on it but the wife needs convincing. And no, I can’t get rid of the wife.

Check it all over before you buy. I have a 1962 t-bird. My wife loves it. check it from top to bottom for rust etc. If you really want it afterword, ask to pay 6000 cash, who knows?

From the pictures it looks like a nice car. Over heating could be as easy as a sticky thermostat. If the body is really solid it's probably not a terrible price. Hopefully you can tackle any work it may need yourself and save a lot of money. We're here to help, just ask. Another thing to look at could be the water pump.
Good luck!

Looks like a nice clean car, well cared for. I would still look underneath.Check the frame, bottom of doors and bottom of quarters. If I bought the car I would install a NEW radiator and nNEW thermostat. After removing the thermostat run a hose thru the engine for 5 minutes then install the radiator hoses and thermostat. Car looks good, if bottom of car is solid it's a good price. Just a thought before you buy the car remove the radiator cap run the engine, check radiator for BUBBLES. If there are bubbles it may be a blown head gasket.
