Hello All: My 2002 TBird is attempting to overheat intermittently over the past couple of weeks. Symptoms: after about 3 miles of city driving without the heater on, a fan noise in the engine compartment increases perceptibly and the engine temp gauge rises quickly into the danger zone. I learned that I can turn the heater on and the temp guage rapidly returns to normal. I read on a website dedicated to car problems that the 2002 TBird 3.9L DOHC engine is reported to have an occasional overheat problem due to a malfunctioning hydraulic cooling fan motor. Any experience/knowledge out there to share? What's this likely to cost me for repair? Thanks to any and all help!
