Column shifter worn out

my 1962 swing away column shifter worn or broken. Won't stay in park and have to hunt for gears. shift indicator is not showing gear selected. Trans is ok . What will I need to replace and how?

I installed a new shift lever and it feels tighter and seems to shift into all gears. "BUT" the gear shift indicator on the column does not show to gear the trans is in. engine starts and car moves forward while indicator is in park position. car goes into reverse when shift indicator shows drive. I have not made any changes inside the car or under the car. I am stumped
