I removed the interior panel on my ‘03 so I could work on the door latch. I found a sheet of rubber like material wadded up inside the panel. It is approx 12”x12” and about 1:16” thick. There is a number stamped into it: 455988. Does anyone know what it is? Is it supposed to be there? What’s it’s purpose? Thanks.

I was in my door some time ago. I don't recall seeing that, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. It looks like material used inside doors that is glued to the inside middle of the metal door skin. I suspect it's used to help support the thin sheet metal, help deaden outside sound and give the door a more solid sound when shut. Check the other door?
