1984 V8 door lock broken

Hello everyone,

I lent my 1984 tbird to a friend of mine, and it seems like he broke the lock mechanism in the door. He didn't realize that the door couldn't be closed while it was locked (unlike on newer cars), and he basically slammed the door until it closed. Now, the door doesn't open, and it's always open a crack. Is there anything I can do about this? I don't know if you can get the inside of the door panel off to access the lock mechanism while it's closed.

You should be able to get the door panel off, but it will require you to remove the seat.
