Just curious about others' experience. Does your trunk lid have to be ALL the way up to keep it from slipping down and conking you on the head? My gas struts hold it up while its COMPLETELY open but anything less than that and the trunk lid falls down...

To wit, do I need to replace the gas struts ? If so, and anybody has a source that would also be appreciated.

MODERATOR UPDATE 2020- You can buy them here- https://forums.fordthunderbirdforum...rear-trunk-lift-supports-strongarm-4073.9227/

Yes, the struts get weak. I replaced mine on my 2005 this year. Now the trunk stays up proud and strong.

Installed the trunk struts today. Quick and easy. Much firmer lift going up and still "drops" closed when you get to about a foot away - perfect.
