Was "treating" the mystery leather on the driver's seat and discovered a mystery knob. It's located on the front below the custion near the console. It is of goodly size and has a serrated edge for firm gripping.
I turned it to max both directions and discovered nothing. Any ideas: what? why? when? etc.

That is the lumbar support for the seatback. Try turning the knob completely from one direction to the other, while leaning back in the seat and you should feel the seat back firming up and softening.
