I spent alot of time at the assembly plant between 1978 and 1989, while I worked in Dearborn. I made friends with the plant manager at the stamping plant in the late eighties. I think he came over to the assembly division during the time they were swapping plant managers between stamping and assembly. Can you still hear ok?

Then you knew plant managers Joe Grill, Lee Azzarillo, and Ron Wallace?
Ron built a mansion in Tennessee and he's farming and raising a few head of cattle!! Did you retire from Ford?

I did retire from the Assembly Division 31 years. Finished at the Lorain plant, I missed all the golden handshakes, I was told I could stay as long as I wanted to. Worked on the Thunderbird side until it left and worked on the Econoline side until I left. Heard of the first two, but Ron Wallace is the only one I knew, was he at the Stamping Plant. Lou Callaway, and Al Capara are two I remember at the Assembly plant, Jim Hill was also there. Just back from Fl. picking up the PCR, it performed wonderful on the trip back. Over eight hundred miles.

Greg, That is very true! Only 8% of 2002-2005 Thunderbirds were non-premium models. And only 10% of 2002-2005 Thunderbirds had no hardtop. Combine those two factors and you get down to only 3% of the cars being non-premium without hardtops.

BTW, There was a hardtop shortage in 2005. Looking at only the 2002-2004 models, only 7% did not have hardtops.
