Hello all, I'm Oscar and I'm planning to get a 2003 Tbird. 😀
I've been around some dealerships and of course you don't see much used Tbirds around, so I want to know if there's something I should look for or take my time on checking... any recalls on the 2003? any other known issues?

Right now I own a 1995 Mercury Cougar so I've been around the 1989-1997 Tbird forums.

Thanks very much in advance.

Welcome to the forum! I think there was only a recall to add an additive in the transmission fluid to cure harsh shifting. And of course you need to look at the paint on lip around the top of the quarter panels and upper back (ahead of the deck lid). If someone had the hardtop on with out the clear plastic strips being installed first, there will be scratches or wear in the clearcoat where the hardtop rubber seal rubbed against the paint.

Have you checked ebay? There are lots of Tbirds for sale there... if you want a hardtop don't worry if the car you like doesn't have one - you can buy one later on ebay for from $800 to $2,000 (depending on color and who else wants it). Good luck!!

Thanks a lot.
I have checked on internet for used cars, but I didn't mention that I live in Mexico City, and there's far less Tbirds here. At least all of the Tbirds sold here came with the hard top. These are really hard to find cars here.

Welcome Ocar. There are plenty new ones if you want to venture deeper into your pockets......However, if not and you are not in a hurry, every so often we hear of one of our members selling very well taken care of TBirds.
If you are going for a 2003, that is probably the best route to take.
If you want, we all can be on the lookout for you 😎

Thanks a lot guys. The thing is it is very difficult, if not impossible, to import a used car to Mexico. That's why I have to look for a dealer-sold used Tbird.
Right now I have found white, black and graphite, but I've seen a light blue on the street... I was wondering if that color is just for a 2005. Can I find a 2003 in light blue?

Thanks again!

The blue you get depends on the year - for 2005 they had a Medium Steel Blue, for 2004 they had a Light Ice Blue, for 2003 they had a Desert Sky blue (powder blue) and for 2002 they had Thunderbird Blue (blue-green). Good luck!

Looking for an 03?

Hello Oscar, I have an 03 007 Edition, #468 that I may be willing to part with for the right price of course.
It has just over 10K miles on it. Purchased it in CA and had it transported to Florida. I had it color sanded by a shop in CA, so it shines better than any bird you'll find. You can reach me at stampfer2@*********** or call me in Florida at 727-363-6544 My name is Mike
Good luck.
