Another question about my first classic Thunderbird
I love driving this Thunderbird.

Power steering upgrades. The power assist is difficult at zero and low speeds, to slightly unpredictable.
Conversion to power options.
Not a numbers matching car, motor swapped before I bought it.
Beautiful car, Colonial White, black interior.

Thank you David

Hello David,
The most likely cause of your lack of power steering is a worn power steering pump. Ford used an Eaton pump during the 50's and 60's. You can have your pump overhauled. There is an excellent place in Texas http://www.stangerssite.com/EPrebuilding.html his communication is not the best but he will do an excellent job on your pump. He did the pump on my Skyliner and he knows them in and out. There is a test for pump pressure and you need to have somewhere in the 700 PSI at idle. If you don't have that, it would explain the little or no assist at idle. Good luck with your new classic!
