My A/C keeps blowing the fuse. After changing the fuse it blows very cold for approx. an hour then blows the fuse again. I'm certain the compressor is the culprit for the voltage surge thus blowing the fuse. However, since I have no cooling issues when fuse is good, should I change more than just the compressor, for example, dryer etc.? I was also told that there are some type of valves behind the dash that open and close when using A/C and could also result in blowing the fuse. Does anyone have any suggestions/opinions or additional information on these items?
Feel free to share any other issues I should address sooner rather than later. I bought the car last year and currently have 85K on it. Yes, I bought it to drive, not sit in my shop and kiss it everyday.

What fuse did you replace? If you can tell me the fuse number and fuse box location I will be able to see what other components are on the circuit. Before you condemn the compressor I would put an amp probe on the compressor circuit to see what the amp draw is.

I replaced the A/C fuse (10 amp) under the hood. As I previously mentioned, after each replacement, the A/C blows cold but for only about an hour before the same fuse blows again.

The 10-amp fuse, in the auxiliary junction box under the hood, protects the A/C clutch circuit, the auxiliary coolant pump circuit and the coolant control valve solenoid. You need to put an amp probe on the green/yellow A/C clutch field coil wire, the red/yellow auxiliary coolant pump motor wire and the red/orange coolant control valve solenoid wire to see what the amp draw is.

Since the coolant flows through the coolant control valve, sometimes the coolant leaks into the solenoid causing a short circuit. I wouldn’t be surprised if a defective coolant control valve is the cause of your problem.
