2003 Thunderbird headliner sagging

My softtop headliner is fastened at the rear using a black plastic strip connected to the headliner fabric. This strip is attached to the rear frame with screws. On mine, all but the middle portions of the thin black plastic are broken and the headliner is sagging. I would like to fix this, if you can offer insight. Thanks!

Can you mend the breaks with a plastic adhesive or hot melt glue? Perhaps stiffen by adding a section of clothes hanger wire? Good luck
