check engine light indicates fuel fuel sensing system at fault. Dealer wants over 4hrs-over $500 to search for the problem. advice? may have to remove fuel tank. I am told that there are four oxygen sensors on the engine and one or more are sending the signal. the 2003 car runs fine .

The reason there four oxygen sensors on the car is to provide feedback to the PCM indicating air/fuel ratio in order to achieve the correct air/fuel ratio during engine operation. The four oxygen sensors also monitor the condition of the catalytic converters.

Since you are talking about the oxygen sensors and also about removing the fuel tank, you really need to tell me all of the the fault codes that were stored so I will be able to help you.
