Leaving on an epic 15,000 mi or so road trip later this month. Am replacing plastic coolant with aluminum as I've had a dorman start leaking after a year. Anyone who has done this had any issues?

I ordered and installed one of those and have not had any problems after having so many plastic ones fail. Installed in a 2004 over a year ago.

How did the 15K mile trip turn out? I have to ask what mileage you got, just because!
I entered the 2022 Hot Rod Power Tour in my '33 Ford Street Rod (from Factory Five) and drove 2600 miles without A/C in June through the South! I didn't own our T-Bird then! The A/C would have been a pleasure! I did manage to average around 22MPG in the '33, so I guess I was driving too slowly!
Best wishes,
Tom
PS: my car was the "Poster Child" for the 2023 HRPT!

The aftermarket plastic bottles are a disaster for these cars and I'm not sure that the Ford/Motorcraft ones are much better these days - if they are even available. I have the chinaluminum one and so far, so good.

Sorry to have to report that that planned trip never happened😕. While preparing the car I decided to replace the thermostat housing (Dorman) and as luck would have it the included thermostat was defective and caused the car to overheat. By the time I got that squared away I decided on taking my Chev HHR(more luggage space etc) Also only went as far as New Mexico. The longest trip I've made in the T-Bird was when I bought it so 1500 miles from San Diego to Victoria BC. That mileage of 22 seems about right for these cars.Maybe think about coming up for our "Deuce Days" here. Next one in 2028!! Check it out on line great event!!

sounds about right, lol, When I brought mine from Montana to sw okla I got about 20 21, but then I was running between 80 and 90 most of the time, and with the mods I did, I still get around 20 highway AND 16-18 in town, but I spend most of my time in d4 in town.
