Did you ever solve the door lock problem? Same issue with my 2002 TB. I actually rebooted the computer via disconnecting the battery for an hour to try to fix the door ajar buzzer going off. So far that has worked but now the door lock will not work with either the key fob or the inside switch. The door lock actuator has been replaced. The door locks will not recalibrate either! Thank you in advance for your answer.

I just bought back my 2002 Thunderbird Blue that I purchased new, and regrettably sold. It’s a little worse for wear due to sloppy storage practice. The door locks won’t work with the remote, but do work with the inside buttons. I can hear them “trying”, but will not work. The first time, I heard a click then tried the handle, and the door opened triggering the alarm. Any ideas or solutions will be appreciated. Thank you!

Make sure your battery is fully charged but it sounds like due to "bad storage" perhaps the door lock actuators are sticking, they are a cheap part https://forums.fordthunderbirdforum...r-lock-actuator-drivers-passenger-side.13472/

The ugly part is installing them and getting the door panels off (and not breaking any of the '"unobtanium" plastic clips)... You might consider a new battery in the remote and maybe reprogramming it before you go "medieval" on the doors.

BTW - a nice video of some of the pitfalls encountered when removing door panels including how to avoid breaking some delicate parts:

Hello to all, I'm new here to the forum. I recently acquired a 2002 T-Bird that appears to be relatively well kept. This morning I am trying to replace the driver's side door lock actuator. I have the door panel removed and have the electrical connector unplugged. I have read a really good older post here that has lots of good pictures and advice , however I still can't quite figure it out. I read mention of folding the one yellow clip away from the threaded rod and haven't had any luck getting the yellow piece to pivot. Kinda scared to pry too hard because I can be the bull in a China shop at times and really don't want to start breaking things today.
I have a replacement part in hand and it appears that the actuator clips in place but not sure how to release it from the bracket inside the door. I,m hoping someone here can please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

*small update : I got the yellow clip undone and the threaded rod out of the way. Do I need to remove the cable from the lick mechanism too ? Sorry about all the newb questions...just trying to keep from breaking something.

I got the actuator/ door latch assembly out of the door and then discovered the door ajar switch would not allow the actuator to completely slide off it's mounting bracket. There is a tang that I had to depress that allowed me to rotate the door ajar switch 90 degrees , then the actuator would clear. Just posting this for someone else that may run into the same issue.
