most of you that have been helping me know that this has been a fun learning journey and I’m jumping all over when working on this car. Was finally able to get time to put in a new voltage regulator after the ammeter issue a while back. My alternator is now charging at a healthy voltage of 14.5 and a little above but not reaching 18 as it was before. With this though my gauges are no longer working including my ammeter.

You'll prob need to get a schematic, but first do a physical inspection and look for any charred wires of burnt out fuses. I'm rusty on the old T-birds but the first Mustangs had a separate voltage regulator bheind the dash just for the instruments...maybe someone here will know more about that vis a vis T-birds.

18 volts seems kinda high. check manual on correct voltage.

18 Volts is damagingly high - but reread his post, he changed the VR and the charging rate is within specs now.
And his problem was 13 months ago.
