I have a 1964 Thunderbird that was missing some parts in the trunk lock mechanism. I can’t find any pictures of how it goes together, if somebody has a 64 to 66 and could take a picture of the inside that would be very helpful. Thank you

Hey there, hope this helps. Let me know if you need a different angle.

Hmm, occurs to me that you may be referring to the deck lid of a convertible, not the trunk of a hard top? If the former, you can ignore the pictures above🙂

Thanks for sending! The parts that I'm struggling with however are the small pieces that go from the actual latch that you have pictured and connect to the lock. There are 3 or 4 "hing" pieces....I don't know if you can even get a shot up in there. Thanks for responding

Hey tbris, it seems that the diagram includes those pieces. If Ezdarryl or I disassemble our trunk locks, we may end up in the same jam (sorry) that you are in...🙂

These locks can be a problem. If you get locked out of your trunk and your spare tire is mounted you will have a big problem. I was finally able to get into my trunk but I had to remove the hinge bolts and that was a real pain. I now keep my spare tire in the middle of the trunk but not mounted unless at a car show. They are not as hard to put together but taking a picture is a little rough. I do know that I don't want to take mine apart ever again.

I have a 65 and had the same problem. I removed the back seat, driver side, and slid a 4 foot rebar 3/8 inch socket extension and removed the two bolts holding the trunk closed. Also, the spare tire was missing. Problem solved.

I tried the socket thing but because the spare tire was in the way I could not manage to get around it. I did manage to remove trunk latch bolts. The fun we have with our cars. LOL

If you learn of anyone who may have a trunk lid for a 64 to 66 convertible for sale, I would love to get their info so I can see about getting it.
