Just bought a new coil and printed on the side it says use with external resistor 907. Do I need anything more for a 390? Has anyone installed this combo. Is it really necessary to get this 907 resistor before trying to start the car. 9

It will start and run just fine without the resistor, but it will shorten the life of the points and condenser.

Make sure you are not using the resistor wire, if so equipped. If your car has one, no need for an external resistor.
