I'm replacing the carpet and having difficulty removing the center console. I've removed the console aluminum panel, bolts underneath, side dash/knee trim, all stainless screws on perimeter of console, and cigarette lighter assembly and console tray and cover. What am I missing?

Thank you

The only advice I can give is to move slowly and methodically. Loosen what you can find and wiggle. Then slowly track it down. They were pretty good at hiding fasteners.

The side stainless lower trims hold the console in place. They form a channel the console pushes into so once you've removed the drivers and passenger side lower dash sections, the upper stainless trims, the screws under the heater controls and the screws on the console sides - oh might be one under the rear armrest storage box too. Then the console lifts upwards from the rear, it can be tight as those side lower trims are tight. (they are not attached to the console but screwed to the tunnel.)

Hadderz,

Thanks for the info. I've removed the drivers and passenger side lower dash sections, the upper stainless trims, the screws under the heater controls, the screws on the console sides and the rear armrest storage box screws. At this stage, can I begin to lift from the back of the console to unseat the console? Is there a technique to unseat the console from the channel? I greatly appreciate the guidance. Phil

Yes - a bit of a wiggle should see it lift off those lower stainless channels. Most people think they are attached to the console but they are screwed to the tunnel and stay in place.

Hadderz,

Making progress...

I have managed to unseat about a 1/4 inch of space between the bottom stainless and the plastic console. The back of the console is off the deck by about 3/8 inch. Does the u shaped console piece at the back of the console need to come off first? I'm using a fair amount of wiggle and force, but the console has not come off. If you have a minute, could you please call me on 303-587-3054? Thank you!!
