My.1957 T-Bird I bought 2 months ago had the dash heater slide control for OFF-RIGHT AIR -HEAT functioning fine. All of a sudden it is in the "AIR" slot and Can't slide to Heat even with a lot of force. Does anyone know where it might hang up or the issue?

Much of a guess, there are two cables that tie into the controls, one goes to the vacuum valve where the heater diffuser is (black elongated box under the passenger side dash), and the other that goes out to the fender to open the vent. Your best bet is to remove the heater/air control which is behind the control plate that faces out to the cockpit, (not that difficult as I recall) and see what is binding there. It could be the lever itself (what's behind the plate that the levers use to move the cables) or the cables them selves. Good luck.

I just looked and it was the lever coming out of the dash itself was twisted sideways. I got under the dash and took pliers and twisted it straight and it snapped off right below the two rivets that hold it on to the rest of the apparatus. Looks like it is going to be a big job to fix??
Casco has a repair kit # 18574A $21.00 Hope that helps you out. I also got a can of PB Blaster and sprayed all the control cable ends to the vents too. It uses capillary action to travel further into the sleeves. Hills also has reconditioned controls # 18549-R57 but you have to call as I assume there is limited availability.
