1957 fuel pump vacuum line routing

Mine were not connected. Looking at pictures, it appears the outboard-most vacuum nipple on the fuel pump connects to the manifold vacuum behind the carb and the inner most vacuum nipple connects to the windshield wiper motor. Is this correct? Or does it matter? Thanks.
