03 TBird radiator flush/fill

has anyone done this; I am in process and after draining, trying to refill I can only get about a gallon of distilled water for the cleanout. when I started engine to see if some water would circulate, having a rough idle. is there another way to get the radiator/engine filled to do the flush, then finish off with new collant, etc?

Make sure heat is on so you will fill the heater core also and water is going through that.

If your thermostat is old, take the time to replace it. I found using a shop vac on the lower rad hose, and shooting compressed air at the thermostat housing, i got most of the old coolant out.
