I think I bought the last one in captivity for $120, then I saw on Utube how it could've been repaired by welding the crack over with a soldering gun

Their out there l bought one on Amazon replace all of the cheap chap plastic pieces when you change that one because they are all brittle

This is a common misconception, they are not "cheap plastic". The car is over 2 decades old is the issue. "Plastic" radiators for example are made from glass-reinforced nylon and can last for 20+ years, much longer than aluminum.
