I've had my 2002 for about 3 months..... bought it with 15,000 miles on it and LOVE IT!! Anyway, I have been using 89 octane since I bought it and it has been fine. I just, accidentally, put in a tank of 87 octane and drove it from NC to Penna and it ran great......... any thoughts????? Ray Mead (White 2002 with FULL COLOR interior)

......If the manufacturer is asking for 91 octane....then that's what I use.....You are still under warranty?.....seems most DOHC's drink premium...and have a higher compression ratio...... 😀

Our fuel filler door has a sticker on the inside that says 91 octane. That's what we've always used.

However, others have posted that the engine will run fine on lower octane fuel.

I run a quality 93 Octane Super or Sunoco Ultra 94 when I can get it. As for running 87 or 89, I wouldn't do it, there's no telling how much damage you'll do if that Lincoln engine gets to knockin' or pingin'...
