How can I find out the history of my 63 T-Bird VIN 3Y83Z119097.I have its history after it came to Canada but I would love to know its American history. From the VIN I know it was made in Wixom Michigan and was sent to San Jose California. But would love to know its American roots. Is there anyway of finding this out?
Thanks

Track down owners and where they purchased if possible, if not virtually impossible due to records being lost not record ,dealers no longer in business

Hello fellow '63. I have been wanting to try this as well. I would love to share pics and compare notes on equipment as I have had a difficult time finding original set up pics.

I guess that the owner registrations were burned in a fire in California so i guess finding any owner info is impossible so I will continue to sit in "Lizzy" and make up her history.

Well, look on the upside. You can make a new history for her. A damsel in distress that you saved.

Wow! Very nice full resto. I like the two tone roof. Do you have any pics of the engine bay and did you keep it all original? Mine has a different ps pump.20190730_090939.jpg20190730_090549.jpgScreenshot_20201029-104932_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20201029-105010_Gallery.jpg

I really like the colour of your car.Mine originally was Calfonte blue but I didn't like it .So searched the parking lots for a colour I liked so used the colour of the F-150.Had the vinyl roof put on the back part to make it different. Was going to put on the "S" bars (Landau) but it looked too much like a hearse.Had the motor rebuild and kept it original.Has more power than I'll ever need.It came with 62 seats so had them redone to match the exterior.Haven't driven it too much this summer as all car shows were cancelled. Now it is in the garage for the snowy winter

I found out a number of years ago that the State Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA or DMV) has a history of car ownership by VIN # based on previous ownership using car sales & new registrations. The reason I know this is that I sold a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe in the early 2000's & a few years later was contacted by a towing company who had the car & provided me with info on retrieving the car by paying accumulated impound/storage fees. I asked how they were contacting me since I sold the car years ago & they said they use the vin# when contacting the MVA to get a last registered owner address to provide owner of notification of their impending vehicle sale to recover tow/storage fees. They do not use the tag# on the vehicle (when available) since some cars will not have valid tags on vehicles.

I contacted the MVA & asked for a specialist who investigated & said the car had never been registered by the individual who I sold the car to, and said that they only change the vehicle's current ownership when the new owner registers the car, even though I had completed the "notification of vehicle sale" form & submitted it to the MVA. If you have any idea which states your car might have been in over it's lifetime, a specialist might be able to help you using the vin#. I had my MVA specialist check the VIN#s on the numerous cars I had sold in the past decades & some were never re-registered, & my name was still listed as owner. They are able to add to their file that I no longer own the car & the info that I provided as to who was the new "sold to" owner based on my previous "sold notification" submissions providing the name & driver's license # of the buyer.

Good thing to know - Check with you MVA for the "notification of auto sale" form & have copies available to fill out & submit to the MVA immediately after a sale. Never sell a car to anyone who cannot provide a valid Drivers license or State MVA ID that you can verify & record with their signature on a bill of sale and notify your insurance company that you've sold the car. If you don't protect yourself, after you sell someone your car & you don't have any proof who has it afterwards, if the car is involved in an accident or crime, you are in for some possible law enforcement issues & expensive lawyer fees.

Much more soace with tge ac taken out. Im pretty sure I should have the external canister ps pump unless they changed during production. I am refurbishing the expansion tank so just installed a temp bypass. Afraid to get on her untill I fix the steering. Tons of power after the overhaul. Do you know whats suppose to mount on the inside fender well? There are two holes and an oval indent .

I assumed that the holes in the oval indent was where the washer bag was to go.Mine doesn't have windshield washers .I guess the original owner thought that was an unnecessary option in California.Wish he had felt the same way about those darn power windows.Would much prefer the windup.Just out of curiosity where do you live.I am near London Ontario. But my car came from Sarnia Ontario across the river from Pt. Huron Michigan.

Am I correct in assuming that you already have the Marti report for your car?
