It will be time for an oil change soon for my 02 Bird. Have any of you used synthetic oil such as Mobil 1 and is it worth the added
cost? I have always changed oil in my other cars I owned every
4000 miles. Thanks.

Use Mobil 1 in all the cars except. On the bird we use the
recommended 1/2 blend. Have heard if you change the oil
regularly 3-4000 it is a waste to spend on Mobil 1. Unless
your time frame is like ours once a year.

Maybe some techs can come in on this.

Some in Vette club swear it makes the car run cooler ??????

I'm using it in my cars/truck since only change the oil once a year
and mobil 1 has a long use life.

I'm using Amsoil XL 7500 synthetic 5W20 oil. It meets Ford's specs for the Thunderbird so warranty coverage is not an issue (I asked Ford). I'm not sure if it's that much better but I change at the recommended 5,000k. The Motorcraft oil is a semi-synthetic blend but I'm told it's a very good oil too.
