I just got an 04 Bird last week. As it was a slightly used one, I noticed that the brake pedal does not have any rubber pad on it, only the metal. Should it have a rubber pad on it? Don't have any others around me to compare it with. I know this is somewhat anal, but I want it to be correct.

Thanks for any help.

......yes the brake pedal should have a rubber pad on it.....seems odd that it's missing......can you find out why that is?.....welcome to the site!.....tell us about your 'Bird....be prepared to experience a unique ownership experience.....Cheers!

Hi
Thanks, that's what I thought. Seems previous owner lost it or took it off; who knows?
We had been driving Toyota MR2 Spyder for almost last 3 years, so top off driving is nothing new, but this car is great! Actually glad Ford stopped making them so ours will be somewhat limited. I will miss the 30mpg that the Spyder got. But we did a weekend roadtrip and averaged 21 mpg. So can't really complain.

Seems dangerous as your foot could slip off the metal plate & hit the gas pedal.
