heater problems

My 2004 T-bird's heater is not working properly, I suspect that the cabin sensor is defective. How can I locate the mounting position for this sensor.
Ford told me that it could be many more things possible then the sensor, and
that it could run into a thousand plus to diagnose and repair.
Since I can buy the sensor for less then $40.00 on line, I can replace it myself
and if that is not it, O.K. I will now have a new sensor at least.
All I need now is to find out where this sensor is located. Can anyone help?
Thanks, Alleycat

Repairs on these cars can get a bit expensive. You may want to consider an extended Ford warranty.

Check the valve between the radiator and heat coil first

I pulled my dash out meter all the sensors all good. 6 hours of my life.
Ended up dropping $1,100 at a dealer because of frustration and a severe cold streak in my area. You can get the valve for less then $200. I thought the valve was working but it turns out the engine needed to be up to temperature to properly check it.
