I need to replace the heater core and maybe the AC evaporator in a 1966 bird convertible. Can this be done without removing the whole dashboard? Is there any place were I can see step by step guide to remove it?

Shop manual has fuzzy step by step removal,of evaporator/ heater removal. Big job, take lots of pictures and notes, be prepared to replace lots of vacuum lines and vacuum motors not a weekend job, I’ve been working it for six weeks now but I’m old. Good luck.
