Julie,
The Deluxe vs. Premium varys with the year. The 2002 deluxe has painted wheels instead of chrome and no traction control like the premium. For the 2004 deluxe the wheels are still painted instead of chrome and the deluxe also does not have heated seats like the premium.

mike02redbird...

How do you do that?
Its a feature on the Ford internal network accessible by employees.

Harry,

Can you tell me the actual dates for the following:

"Polycon"
Date: 24584 and
27617

It's not a Julian date.

I believe my car was built in August 02, but I'm curious how much earlier 2 parts were "ok'd".

I hear the pornography is pretty incredible on that internal network too. (btw, that's a joke)

Do the Deluxe come with running lights?

I don’t know of any way to decipher those codes… are you sure they are dates? If they are on parts they may be combination codes for a mold or die number, shift, & date… Is Polycon a vendor name?

No, no porn on that network… you wouldn’t believe how many mandatory diversity, sensitivity, and sexual harassment classes everyone in the company must attend. Several times I’ve been blocked from a site during a google search because the site content was “inappropriate.” Still I know of three people who have been fired for “violations” and unlike firings for almost any other reason (attendance, fighting, stealing, etc), these people never come back. The policy is “Zero tolerance” and I can tell you several stories to back that up. At least one of the people I know was fired for failing to immediately delete inappropriate emails someone sent him.

The deluxe had running lights if the dealer had the presence of mind to order this no-cost option.

Those "dates" are off the front and rear bumper covers on a round green sticker. I did an internet search, and apparently Polycon manufactures the covers and sends them to Ford for assembly, so that splains the odd #'s for the dates.

Quickdraw, The door sticker on my 2003 Torch Red reads 11/02. Can't find the day it was manufactured anywhere. Could you look mine up please? VIN 1FAHP60A63Y100402.

Thanks

Dan, I'll look yours up tomorrow but I don't have access to the selling dealers name. You bought it used and no one saved the window sticker?

Quickdraw - I purchased it used from a Ford dealer who bought it at a Ford auction. I am assuming it had been a rental car. I was just curious where it came from.

Thanks for your help.

Butek,

Congratulations on the PCR! I'll check it for you Monday.
===========================================

For those that are new, HKS (above Buteks message) has an excellent DVD with about 77 minutes of comercials, promo footage, and news stories from Fords FCN internal communication system on the Thunderbirds. Covers everything from the 2002s to 2004s. Its probably the most complete collection of retro Thunderbird material available anywhere.

The DVD is highly recommended and many years from now it will be as historic as the car itself. My grandaughter will eventually get both the car and the DVD.

My Vin

Msmexus,
Your black/black/full red Premium ’03 is one of only 246 made like that.

Mine is an interesting one. VIN 1FAHP60A02Y101396. This is one of the early cars that had to be loaded up on a truck after reaching its destination and go back to Wixom for the hydraulic fan repair. The window sticker shows a build date of 6-8-01 and the VIN sticker on the drivers door jam shows 06/01, but an Oasis report shows the build date as 08-05-01. The car was built and held up at the factory for several holds. one for the trunk lining, one for the seats, one for the door panels, and one for the hard top. It was shipped and arrived at the Amarillo railhead on 8-17-01. It was loaded up and shipped back to Wixom on 09-03-01 and then landed back at the Amarillo railhead on 10-09-01 which was also the day we took delivery. So far as I can see, Ford lists two build dates for my car. Interesting.
