We are still searching for the reason, why the electric windows of my 2002 TBird won‘t go up (I’ve posted here before). Over here in Germany nobody knows this car, and every issue means, you‘re in trouble!
My car electrician has checked about everything possible and finally got to the control unit under the space for the softtop. This unit seems to be in charge of the window management. He says, that it sends no signal (power) to the switches for the windows. He then connected power cords directly to the switches and the windows went up and down.
Has anybody got an idea, what we can do next? Thanks!

Well, it sounds like you found the issue, no? Sounds like the rear electronics module. Is there a part no. on the control unit?

Gus, That link seems to be for a FEM (front electronic module), but it seems like its the REM.
Carlimann, This link is for a REM:
https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-lighting-control-module-1w6z13c788ab See if your module part no. matches the one in the link.
By the way, The FEMs MUST be programmed by a dealer, using your existing FEM for the software download. I don't think the REM requires this software download, but I could be wrong.

Did you by chance scroll down the page? All three modules are in that page. The REM is the second one

Hi, I`ve described my problem here about a year ago and still have`nt found a solution. The electric windows of my car won`t go up and down. The motors are ok, so is the switch. There is no signal coming from the FEM. If I give 12 volts directly from the battery to the switch, the windows work as they should. The illumination of the instrument cluster and the shifterknob were also without function. On the page of Midwest Tecmart, a company that repairs moduls, I found exactly my issues: no illumination of the cluster and the shifter plus my window issue= FEM problem. I sent my module to the company, they checked and repaired the module and sent it back to me. They were very helpfull, I must say, but told me, that they found no issue in the FEM concerning the windowsignal. I got it back theses days. The illumination of the cluster is ok now, the illumination of the shifter not, the windows still without function. Has anybody got an idea, what I can do next? Thanks a lot!

Hi.
Interesting problem. I do not have a wiring diagram, so I cannot be specific, but would it be possible to check continuity of the wire between the FEM and the switch? Perhaps there is a break or intermittent connection in the wire or plugs.

Both windows inoperative or just drivers side?
Passenger window is controlled by REM rear electronic module.

Got to be that computer located in the boot where the top retracts. Just put in a back up camera and had to use one of the out pits from the unit in order to splice into the back up lights. I'm thinking it controls the logic to the windows as well.
Hell of a system

Hi, you mean the REM? I don`t exactly understand, what to do with a backup camera (sometimes my english is not good enough) and the back up lights.

Just strange that Ford made everything go through the REM. what ever sequencing issue is going on with the windows I'm betting that's where the fault is

My guess is the REM controls one of the relays in the trunk fuse box that supplies power
to the power windows. It is possible the FEM supplies a signal to the REM for the
retained accessory power, where your windows, radio, and few other accessories work
for a few minutes after your turn the key off, and power stays on for either 5 minutes,
or until you open the drivers door.

If I got the specialist from "midwesttecmart" -who checked my FEM- right, the FEM sends a 12 volt signal to the main windowswich in the driversside doorpanel (the driversside window works then). The signal goes through the main windowswitch to the REM. The REM then sends a 12 volt signal back to the main windowswitch and the switch in the passengerside switch. Now the passengerside window works too.
The question is: although the FEM seems to be ok, there`s no signal reaching the main windowswitch. As I mentioned: if I give a 12 volt signal directly to the main windowswitch from another 12 volt circuit, both windows work

All window and lock switches do not work using switch’s on the door or key fob. Just got my fem back from Midwest tech yesterday and that did not change this problem. Does anyone know what possibly effects all of these. Thank You

I do know the REM does controls the door locks because my door locks quit when car was in warranty way back
and they replaced the REM. I also recall the REM controls one of the windows, not sure which one.

You mentioned that you had the front electronics module (FEM) rebuilt, but I think that your problem could be with the rear electronics module (REM) because the REM controls both the window and lock functions.

The FEM receives inputs and delivers outputs to a majority of the electronically controlled features which reside primarily in the front of the vehicle, including the LH power window. The REM receives inputs and delivers outputs to a majority of the electronically controlled features which reside primarily in the rear of the vehicle, including the RH power window. The FEM and the REM are configurable modules and must be correctly configured to the vehicle.

The keyless entry system uses a remote transmitter to communicate with the remote keyless entry (RKE) module. The RKE module sends a signal to the REM which controls the output functions of the door locks and luggage compartment lid. The REM is located in the RH rear side of the luggage compartment.
