coil pack problems

Any one had any problems with the coil packs going bad?
If so what have you done to correct the problems.
I have heard that they get wet and short out. 😕

Yes... this does seem to be problem - not real common but it does happen... correction includes replacing the coil packs and sealing the coil pack cover good. I understand driving with a bad coil pack can damage the catalitic converter.

I have the same type coil pack on my f 150 and have had 2 go out, the truck has approximately 41000 miles. To get them replaced at a Ford dealership it is around $225 each. Whats the deal on these ? Is it just a way for Ford to make more money or what ? 😡

coil packs

See my post of June 05. They replaced 2 plus some injectors. Have had no problems since but it's only been 5,000 miles. They can not give me an answer. This does seem to be chronic.

Most of the ones I've heard of were from water damage. Water getting in somehow. There might be some info on the "thunderbird forum *******" since Dot had the same problem and was accused of power washing the engine. (she never did)
