changing thermostat housing 2002

This is a very good question ! Did you resolve it?
According to the 2002 workshop manual it requires the removal of the intake manifold which is not a trivial task !

Is there anyone out there that has found a work around for the removal of the thermostat housing on a 2002 Thunderbird without having to remove the intake manifold?

Your advice would be deeply appreciated and thank you !

Did mine last month. Take a cheap wrench, bend it, and remove the bolts 1/6th of a turn at a time. It is a slow process but it beats removing the intake in my opinion.

This is excellent news! Thank you for your input!
By the way, Did you replace the old one with the aluminum NCE2247AD-PRM from URO?
Thanks!

I did the aluminum housing.

Excellent !
Did you also do the water pump & hoses?
If so, after you drained the radiator ( approx. 3/4 gallon) and you opened the cooling system how much coolant came out of the cooling system and engine block?
Thanks

Just the thermostat and housing for now. I am thinking about doing the pump and hoses next fall.
Less than a gallon of fluid came out. I used a suction pump to empty the thermostat housing before taking it off. A little less mess on the floor.
