Just got 2005 Thunderbird.

All was fine, but sometimes I thought I detected a very slight high speed miss.

Then had 2 major instances.

The 1st time it was a mild miss, but the engine was suddenly limited to about 20 mph & a Wrench symbol appeared on instrument panel. Pulled over and turned off engine and it cleared and ran fine & Wrench symbol went away.

About a week later engine began to have bad miss and this time I got an Engine symbol on instrument panel.
Shut off engine and miss went away when it restarted, but engine symbol still shows.

Anyone else had similar problem or know what is causing this?

I had similar situation with my '03. Turns out I had several bad coils. Each cylinder has its own coil and I ended up having to replace 5 or 6. '02 Birds had a recall for this but later engines had a service bulletin (ie no factory paid fix). Hope yours is something simpler since these replacements can run a buck or more apiece! If it is this, your next light may be the cat converter. No prob if your under 80k as I was. Good luck.
