Had the old truck in garage. Its an 86 with a 5.0 V8.

The truck run fine to me. The service guy recommendation
was to start using premium gas. The motor probably has
100 hp less than the bird and 200 less than the vette. Wiith
100K bet its less than those est now.

They hear a slight knock when race the motor. To
me its yeah I guess so. I've had both in the truck and
could not tell which was which.

Now you read articles from experts in research and gas
companies themselves telling you there is no reason to
use premium in our new cars. It really just hype to
promote an upscale brand or to pinch the maximum
advertised hp rating out of an engine. No harm what so
ever will come to a modern engine using reg gas. Its not
a cost issue, it paying extra for something you are not
using.

On an old carb motor could premium offer some benefit vs
a new computer controlled.

Here's one of latest articles have read
