After 21 years, we are selling our much loved T-Bird. We cared for it when it was young (regular maintenance), nursed it back to health when it was ill (engine replacement at 35K miles), wiped it's nose when it had a cold (usually ignition coils), bought it new shoes(tires) and clothes (car cover), and kept it well fed all of these years.

If you know anyone who would like a well cared for 2002 whisper white T-bird with 96K miles, please refer them to the auction site:

In 2004 my girlfriend (now my wife) bought this as a Christmas resent to herself when she saw it sitting on a lot in Orange County. I flew down there and drove it up with her - what we do for love. We have had it ever since. But when we moved back into SF in 2012, we only had 1 parking spot. So the Jag stayed here and I rented a parking spot across the bay. I have been using the car on the back end of my commute a day or two a week since then - take BART across the Bay, walk to it's underground parking spot, and drive 7 miles to my office (or to customers).

While it is "her car", I have fallen in love with it. Sort of like when my daughter went off to college and left her yellow lab with me - she became my companion, friend, and confidant.

The details and many images are on bringatrailer.com, though here are the key elements:
Car details:
- 2002 Ford Thunderbird - Whisper White with Midnight Black interior.
- Premium package with traction control and 7 spoke chrome wheels
- Removable hardtop is Whisper White with a black soft-top - soft top operates fine (video on auction site)
- battery and tires are fairly new (2022), regularly maintained, and runs great
- comes with owners manual, hard top removal tool (aftermarket), boot cover (for when hardtop is off and soft-top is down), and a car cover w/ lock

Car history
- second owner - purchased late-Dec-2004 at ~19.6k miles
- scheduled maintenance warranty work performed in first year (replaced radio/cd changer, 2 bad ignition coils, etc).
- in 2006 the engine was replaced by S&C Ford in SF at 35k miles
- used occasionally the first 18 months then became a daily driver from mid 2006 to mid 2012 - averaging 7300 miles / year during this time
- in mid 2012 we moved back to SF and we rented a garage parking spot in the East Bay for the T-bird where I would use it to drive from teh train (BART) station to work a couple days a week - averaging 1500 miles per year
- regular scheduled maintenance and all issues repaired when the came up
- most common issue was ignition coils
More recent items:
- radiator, fan housing, and hoses replaced in 2016
- New windshield in 2019 (chip started cracking)
- Washer pump replaced – July 2020
- New battery – Jan 2022 (a casualty of limited driving during covid)
- New tires - June 2022 (approx. 3500 miles driven since)
- New power steering pump and pressure switch, flushed brake fluid - Feb 2023
- this week - fixing flashing airbag light issue (given to Ford Dealership for repair)

We will miss this car - we took it on our honeymoon, would drive up north and back down Hwy 1, or cruise down Hwy 1 to Santa Cruz or Capitola for easy road trips. We get more comments on this car than our very clean Jag XJ8 in British Racing Green.

But it is time to set it free to find a new home.

Sold for $7200, slightly lower than what I thought we would get but probably a reasonably fair price for the miles (and that it was in a small accident 15 years ago).

Now that it is moving on to a new home, I probably won't be checking out the Thunderbird Forum as much as I have over the past years. I want to thank all of the regulars here for the advise (usually indirectly through previous posts). This site is a wealth of information and membership is a must for any T-Bird owner.

Best to all,

Jeff
