55 Bird-Signal Flasher Location?

In the middle of converting a 55 from the 6 volt to 12 volt, negative ground system.

Having a problem trying to locate the tun signal flasher. Where can this be hidden? It sure isn't in plain view and it surely isn't in the location where the shop manual says it should be.

Any help would be welcomed.

The turn signal flasher on my Thunderbird is mounted on a bracket that is attached to the dash frame, right of the steering column and left of the wiper switch.

Thanks Doug for your response. We discovered this item:

and found out it's the signal flasher. Replaced this with an LED flasher and the signals now work.
 
Do you mean emergency flashing lights or the electrical relay for the signal lights. Mine doesn't have the first, but yes to the signal light relay flasher.
