I just installed new struts and springs and it looks like it's riding too high. Is there a published measurement from the ground to the top of the wheel well arch, or wheel center to the arch? I can't find that published number anywhere.

Since the change the measurement from the ground to the fender well is.... LF = 28 1/4", RF = 27 7/8, LR = 28 5/8", RR 28 1/2. The gap between the top of the tire and wheel arch seems much to large. Before photo is top down.

Thanks.

Ride height numbers will be from the ground to the frame. I have never seen any published numbers on height of the wheel opening.

Brand new coils are always higher than what they will be in a few thousand miles. I would expect them to look like that - they will settle in. I had a Town Car that I put new springs on front and it was awful looking at first and then they were perfect for years.

Could I impose on someone with low miles (under 50K ?) to compare my measurements with yours?

Thanks!

Have a great Memorial Day,
Mine is 28 inches in the front and the few thunderbirds that I have seen in person tend to be the same, more drop towards the back.

Has anyone else noticed their rear shock mounts not entered on the retaining bolt? This is totally weird.

The whole rear suspension was replaced, thank you dealer warranty, for free. So there are no worn Ford parts or bad bearings. I'm attaching the inside and outside view of the same shock.

This is is also visible on the brand new struts. Makes no sense.

For your info: my 2003 with 53,000 miles and mostly all new suspension parts due to grease seals……measures exactly 28 inches to both front and rear top wheel wells. No discernible difference measured from old to new suspension components.
Thank you sundlh. I had my original struts re-installed yesterday and, after a wheel alignment all for are at 28" now too. I'm at 56k miles.

The shop had no idea though, why the shocks were so off center at the lower arm assembly. Only 18 months since the rear end work was done.

Typo - centered

This is odd. I just had a set of 55s installed on my 84K 2003 with hard top on. Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive. Taller sidewall than OEM, theoretically. Wheel well opening measures 27 3/4! I expected it to be higher. My springs must have taken a set or these 55s are as short as 50s.
