I backed into a very low metal post and crunched the chrome surround. Fortunately there was no actual body damage.
Had to get a whole new pocket of course just for the chrome. Does anyone know how to remove it? so I can put the
new one on? Thanks

I know the front and rear bird graphic emblems and "Thunderbird" script on the sides are all put on with 3M self adhesive backing.
If that's the case you will have to lift the chrome off VERY carefully and use double sided tape or trim adhesive to reattach it.
Might be hard to get it off without kinking it for sure.

Otherwise the chrome may be on using clips or tabs which perhaps you can see looking into the back of the piece.

Alternatively install the whole new (used) pocket if its undamaged.

Here is a photo of the back side of the rear license plate pocket. As you can see the chrome strip is fastened
by small nuts, and the complete pocket snaps in place with tabs on the back bumper. Looks like you may have
to remove the rear bumper to gain full access.
