Thunderbird Year
2005
2005 with 48000 miles. DTCC was replaced 10,000 miles ago. A/C works as expected. Here are symptoms
1. When set at 71, blows cold air.
2. The distribution works OK; press defrost, blows through defrost; press vent, blows through vent, etc.
3. If temp set to 78, then some warm air arrives.
4. Symptoms the same for both left and right controls.

I am thinking that the temp sensor is not working properly or the blend door is malfunctioning.

Any wisdom out there from others with similar problems? Thanks in advance.

What is a DTCC ? Did you mean DCCV?
Lots of heating and cooling system information and links to parts here-

Instead of reading my post, head over to the thread created by biddle! I had similar symptoms last year on my 05. It was the culprit was the dual-zone heater control valve. Low cost and simple to replace. I don't recall the diagnostic procedure to isolate it as the cause, but you should include this on your list of checks.

I had a similiar problem with my 2002. I don't remember where I read it but it advised calibrating the controls by lowering the heat to as low as it would go and holding the switch for a short period of time and then raising the control to high as it will go and holding the switch down for same amount of time. Repeat procedure for both sides. I done it twice to be safe. This solved my problem. Sorry about not remembering the time to hold it at each end ,but iit's been too since I done it.
