Does anyone know if Ford continued the factory connector in the trunk for the short-lived Ford trailer wiring kit all the way through the 2002 through 2005 run? If so, I could potentially pick up one of the old kits and use it for my 2004. Otherwise, I guess I'm going to have to splice in one of the various low-side switching modules that are available.

Thanks,
Dan

To answer my own question after completing the work of installing the Ford trailer wiring kit, the factory connector does not exist in the trunk area, at least not on my late 2004 model, but presumably not for anything after 2002 models. Manual splicing of wiring had to be done. Fortunately between the kit's wiring diagram and the factory wiring diagram service book for the car, I was able to make sense of what needed done enough to make the crazy low side switching configuration work, with some caveats, including having added a relay to keep the trailer light pins from being hot all the time, including when the ignition was off. The 4-pin trailer lighting now only works when my headlights are turned on, but it works and nothing else stopped working.
