The diagrams look fine.

Note you will need a trim tool to pry the connector for the rear window defroster wire off the bulkhead. Once you do that, you can disconnect the rear window defroster at the connector junction (NOT THE WINDOW ITSELF) And then remove/pull back the fabric covering the REM and other modules in the area.

For the splice itself, you can make a military splice or use a positap device.

suggest a folded up towel to protect your shins from the seat rails.

I had this happen when a shop installed it! I noted the issue and disconnected all of it. Another reason I’m trying to be VERY specific about the process! My battery was dead in two days.

As to the resistor, I’m holding off but as usual, I’m a visual guy!

Thanks for this great write up.
For anyone installing a modern Stereo like a Sony XAV XV-4000 with a male 3.5 mm jack for the remote, the wire labeled "Remote 1" gets plugged into port 18 in the main radio harness. NO adapter needed. I scavenged a pin from the old Stereo and soldered it to the Remote 1 wire from the 3.5 mm Jack, and then plugged it to the Metra adapter. The Ground wire from the 3.5mm plug goes to ground (of course). The other wire from the 3.5 mm is not used.

The Stereo can then learn the buttons by using the settings menu. 1731170936667.png1731170568545.png1731170620562.png
