looking for a locking gas cap for my '04. Ford dealer has one for $43+ !!!! Is there an aftermarket
cap available somewhere for a more reasonable price?

There are a number of choices on the market. Go on Amazon or eBay 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird locking gas caps and it should give you a number of choices and prices.
