2002 Wipers turn themselves on

Same problem on occasion with my 2005. And sprays fluid at the same time. Hoping to get some advice through this post.

The FEM controls the low washer fluid indicator in the instrument cluster. Inside the wiper motor there is a microprossoor, a wiper high/low relay, a wiper run/park relay and a windshield washer relay. Unless your multi-function switch is defective, I believe your issue is caused by the wiper motor itself. Before replacing anything, use a scan tool to check for fault codes and operate the wipers with the scan tool to eliminate the multi-function switch as the cause.
