I have removed the two nuts as shown in the manual, but assembly will not come out. Is there something I’m missing?IMG_2018.jpeg

When I removed the one on my 05, there was an alignment pin that was really tough to release. It just took some gentle persuasion and a few hard tugs to break it loose. I put a little lithium grease on the pin when I reinstalled the assembly. Be gentle.

Greetings GaryP, the yellowish piece is in the second picture. Can you tell me where the alignment pin is located? If on the outside edge, perhaps I can use a wooden wedge. Also spray some WD-40 in the area, if I know what area to spray.

Instead of WD40, (Penetrant, demoisturant, rust preventative) use silicone spray (lubricant and mild dielectric).

The alignment pin goes into the retaining clip on the upper inside of the taillight assembly. As you can see in the attached picture, there are two plastic barbs on the retaining clip that lock on to the alignment pin.

Thanks for the help. It’s strange, when I knew what to it worked like a charm.
